Flossie Whitby Elks, 80, of Weldon died Monday, February 15, 2010.

Mrs. Elks was a native of Halifax County, the daughter of the late Raymond Fenton Whitby and Ruby Ferguson Whitby. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Joan ''Dee'' Clifton.

Mrs. Elks is survived by her husband, James Oscar Elks; her daughter, Lorri Elks Phillips of Orange, VA; her son, Jeff Elks and his wife, Tracy, of Halifax; one granddaughter, Michaela Phillips; and three sisters, Doris Arrington and her husband, Tine, of Asheboro, Jeannine Stainback, and Patsy Rose and her husband, Charles, all of Skippers, VA.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 16, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, February 17, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Joyner officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
